How do you photograph the LOVE of your life? Is it possible to capture something so unique? Maybe you can’t — and shouldn’t even try. MARIO SORRENTI, who has photographed the world’s most beautiful women, asked himself this question about MARY FREY, before photographing his muse, the secret indispensable force in his work and life.
Mario’s solution was to compose a story featuring fashion pictures in his iconic style, personal pictures, and a voyeuristic series that recalls Marcel Duchamp’s Etant donné (1946–66), the tableaux vivant of a nude woman, her legs spread revealing herself through a peephole, all using Mary as his model.
Mario’s frontal and cosmically sidereal perspectives capture his LOVE, her beauty simultaneously perceived and contemplated.
