THE KISS
Glamour in cinema was born in black and white, through the power and perfection of light on a face. The art of lighting — of sculpting a face or a body — has always been essential to glamour. French artist Ange Leccia understood the power of light and transformed it into a symbolic force of magnetic attraction between objects.
In his 1980s installations, objects and readymades —such as projectors, cars, planes, and ships — are magnetically drawn together to “kiss,” becoming like animals, animated machines, or even iconic figures in a Hollywood love scene, confronting and embracing one another.
