Co-founder of the french duo air in 1995, Nicolas Godin emerged from the home-studio generation, composing with vintage analog synthesizers — made affordable by the rise of digital technology. even now, as digital plugins emulate their analog predecessors, he remains faithful to the warmth and texture of analog sound and the rituals of live performance.
OLIVIER ZAHM — What were the best moments of your career with Air?
NICOLAS GODIN — If I really look back, the most powerful moments were the interactions with other musicians — in the studio, on stage, or while composing and rehearsing with Jean-Benoît Dunckel. It felt like being back in a teenager’s bedroom, working with friends.
