we spoke to russian edward artemiev, one of the pioneers of avant-garde electronic music, shortly before his death. his process was alchemical — turning electric signals into sonic atmospheres. in his lifelong collaboration with andrei tarkovsky, he scored seminal films like solaris, mirror, and stalker. his compositions envisioned a future where man and machine merged in spiritual union.
