by GAIA REPOSSI and JEREMY EVERETT
Her mother’s name is Gio. Her name is Gaia, after the Greek deity who personified Earth and whose union with Uranus (the sky) transformed primordial chaos into the land, oceans, and atmosphere. It’s ancient history… Gaia is also the only daughter of Alberto Repossi, who took the helm of the prestigious fine jewelry house founded in 1925 by his grandfather. She is now its artistic director and extends her family’s heritage with every new collection. It’s a new story…
Gaia is also an artist. She realized that jewelry can be a form of intimate sculpture, a symbolic voyage in archaeological and geological time. She is creating delicate rings, cuffs, and pendants that are not simply synonymous with Monaco or the Place Vendôme — the world of luxury — but that could also link women to unknown landscapes, dead oceans, extinct civilizations, and unconscious memories.
Her boyfriend, the Californian artist Jeremy Everett, took these pictures of her and her collections during a trip to Joshua Tree and Palm Springs.
