Purple is pleased to present “When our eyes touch”, a group exhibition hosted at the intimate Maison Louis Carré in Paris featuring multimedia works by international artists reflecting around the subject of sensory touch. The artists, whose creative practices nurture a mindful relationship with the world, include Etel Adnan and Simone Fattal, Axel Antas, Terike Haapoja, Anna Maria Häkkinen and Maija Mustonen, Kapwani Kiwanga (winner of the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2020), Laurent Millet, Laure Prouvost, and Hans Rosenström. How to touch and be touched during a global pandemic when physical proximity has become dangerous and potentially lethal?
This is the first chapter of A I S T I T / coming to our senses — a year long exhibition-series bringing together performances and public works that focus on the topic of our sensory perception in collaboration with local art institutions and festivals. Commissioned by the Finnish Institutes and curated by Hans Rosenström and Satu Herrala, the project starts in Paris and will continue to Berlin, London, Helsinki and Ghent.
Open to the public May 22 – August 1 in two locations:
Maison Louis Carré, 2 Chemin du Saint-Sacrement 78490 Bazoches-sur-Guyonne
Institut Finlandais, 60 Rue des Ecoles 75005 Paris
