Ugo Rondinone’s new show with Gladstone Gallery showcases the artist’s continued use of unexpected materials in new formats. For soul, Rondinone offers untreated, rough stone blocks stacked into the shapes of humans. Playing with repetition and scale, the artist creates a space for contemplation and shifts the mood of the gallery from light and airy towards somber and self-reflective. On view through July 3rd 2013 at Gladstone Gallery, 530 West 21st Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
