[December 3 2014]
The Parisian entrepreneur and man about town Thomas Erber celebrates the 5th edition of his ‘Cabinet de Curiosites‘ annual travelling exhibition and boutique ephemere this month, with the largest edition to date hosted by the Siwilai concept store inside the Central Embassy complex in Bangkok, Thailand. With over sixty international designers, artists, photographers, chefs, musicians and other creatives invited to create limited edition objects and experiences, the Cabinet is a unique event pushing the boundaries of contemporary retail philosophy, and a success story that has gone global since opening inside of Colette, Paris, in 2010. A handful of permanent guests like Kitsuné, Alexandre de Betak and Harumi Klossowska are joined by local Thai talents for the 2014 edition, who have created such diverse rarities as a crocodile-upholstered motorbike, a folding knife embedded with meteorite, precious jewelry in Russian emeralds and myrtlewood, and all manner of contemporary design objects and furniture. The Cabinet itself is an incredible interconnecting wood and steel structure imagined and implemented by Parisian design studio Diplomates, and is on show through December 21st.
