Halsey’s foil and sculptural works reflect communal memory, resilience, and pride, honoring South Central’s cultural richness while addressing gentrification and urban challenges. These pieces, highlighting black and queer figures, mix techniques on large foam and wood panels with found objects and collages. Her durable polymer-modified gypsum sculptures, adorned with patinas, feature engravings that draw from South Central’s life, blending ancient Egyptian iconography with Afrofuturist utopian visions.
On view until May 25th.
