“THEATER” a new film by Calla Henkel and Max Pitegoff on view at the Fluentum Museum Berlin, until December 14th

Fluentum presents THEATER, a new durational film by artist duo Calla Henkel and Max Pitegoff, exploring live performance amidst profound societal shifts. Centered around Kennedy, a character portrayed by filmmaker Leilah Weinraub, the narrative unfolds as she acquires a fifty-seat theater following a life-altering accident. The coinciding exhibition features their ongoing photo series Casts and the premiere of THEATER’s first three episodes, shot at the duo’s own New Theater Hollywood in Los Angeles, where actress Lily McMenamy premiered her performance “A Hole Is A Hole”.

Interweaving fiction and documentary, Henkel and Pitegoff investigate themes of community, ambition, and the haunting specters of exploitation. Curated by Dennis Brzek and Junia Thiede.
