Matthew Higgs and Chelsea’s Friedrich Petzel Gallery celebrate the multiple values of books as they appear either directly or indirectly in art. Artists including John Baldessari, Tauba Auerbach, Martin Kippenberger and Hans-Peter Feldman participate in this visually overwhelming and detailed examination of the cultural and emotional signficance of books. A large shelf on the back of the wall includes a selection of After Dark books authored under the name of Richard Prince’s New York project Fulton Ryder. On view through October 20th 2012 at Friedrich Petzel, 537 West 22nd Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
