The exhibition presents two distinct viewpoints. The first one delves into a historical period when Picasso’s contemporaries attempted to challenge his artistic contributions. The second perspective showcases contemporary artists who draw inspiration from Picasso’s body of work. Even half a century after Picasso’s passing, the modern artworks on display continue to resonate with the formal, technical, and conceptual innovations of this influential twentieth-century artist. Moreover, the exhibition provides us with a contemporary lens through which to appreciate Picasso’s enduring relevance.
On view until December 16, 2023at Almine Rech New York.
