Spring / Summer 2026 Vaquera show in Paris review by mavEric

Vaquera once again rejects the comfort of convention, choosing instead to bring joy to chaos. TSS26 becomes a brilliant exercise in dissolving the boundaries between “good” and “bad” taste — bourgeois illusions tied to rigid codes.
As the show reminds us, context is everything: the piece that seems “too much” can become sublime in the right setting.
As the industry pushes a rational, standardized, and market-driven fashion, it’s the too-much, the unexpected, and the joyful that become truly necessary.
Vaquera confuses the boundary between “commercial” garments and an object of desire: half-dresses clinging to bodies, a weathered jacket matched with a pleated denim skirt and a blown-out collar, or a white skirt paired with a biker jacket — along with skirts trimmed with blue bows and fur, graffiti-sprayed ruffled dresses… each has the strength of a showpiece while staying surprisingly wearable.
There is nothing more liberating than turning excess into joy and mistakes into visual triumphs. Wearing “the wrong thing at the right time” is no longer a misstep, but an act of radical freedom.
