Aida Ruilova‘s 35 mm film Goner at Salon 94‘s Bowery location is an intense and graphic look at events preceding and following a violent act. From the confines of her bedroom, the woman (played by actress Sonja Kinski) exhibits the classic elements of the horror film genre including vulnerable emotional terror and physical distress. The viewer never sees the assailant and only observes the woman’s reactions. Like many of Ruilova’s films, the story unfolds at a chaotic pace combined with an intimacy that captures the anxiety of her character. On view until 23rd October 2011, New York.
