Robert Polidori’s photographs from Versailles capture the buildings restoration and orante details over the period from 1985 to 2010. Polidori’s eye for unexpected angles and small details yields striking compositions. The contrast between historical artifacts and modern restoration allows the work to function as a document of both the past and present. Versailles is on view through October 26th 2013 at Mary Boone, 541 West 24th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
