“REALMS” group exhibition curated by Gemma Rolls-Bentley at Carl Freedman Gallery, on view until November 10th

This exhibition presents a collective exploration of imagined worlds, each brimming with wonder and transformative potential. Through large-scale paintings and immersive installations, the exhibition transcends conventional boundaries, blending myth, memory, and reality. Works by Emma Steinkraus and Georg Wilson reimagine nature, drawing on folklore and mythology to explore kinship with the environment. Leasho Johnson’s lush, rhythmic scenes evoke themes of forbidden intimacy, while April Bey creates an afrofuturist space where difference is celebrated. Tali Lennox and Laura Footes blur the line between personal history and fantasy, showcasing resilience and transformation. Vivid storytelling and diverse artistic approaches infuse the exhibition with a sense of wonder and optimism, encouraging viewers to consider new perspectives on life and liberation. “REALMS” ultimately celebrates the power of art to forge connections, challenge limitations, and envision a hopeful, inclusive future.
