Pola Esther “Peep…You can look but you can not touch,” Old Lyme
Inspired by Bruce Nauman’s seminal 1974 performance, Body Pressure, photographer Pola Esther set out to create and capture scenes of the female body reacting to and playing with the literal and metaphorical idea of Body Pressure. In Nauman’s instructional poster which accompanies the performance, the last line reads, “This may become a very erotic exercise”. It’s safe to say Pola Esther has achieved just that.
