The only American member of renowned Milan-based collective Memphis Group, Peter Shire, presented his first exhibition with gallery Kayne Griffin Corcoran. Displayed are a collection of his “California high kitsch” style ceramics, furniture, and works on paper. Aaron Rose was present at the retrospective to converse with the Los Angeles artist over beers and Shire’s favorite Kenbishi sake.
“Drawings, Impossible Teapots, Furniture & Sculpture” is on view until May 12th, 2018 at Kayne Griffin Corcoran, 1201 S La Brea Ave, Los Angeles.
The artist is also part of two group shows: “An Homage to Hollis Benton” curated by Aaron Moulton on view until 24 June 2018 at Over the Influence, Los Angeles and “Plastic Field” curated by Jean Blanchaert and Adriano Berengo at Fondazione Berengo – Palazzo Franchetti in Venice on view until 25 November 2018.
