Blending painting and live performance in a surreal meditation on motherhood, Olowska’s show takes inspiration from the avant-garde play “The Mother”. Her portraits of Anja Rubik, pulsing with beauty and decay, mirror the play’s tensions as three actresses embody archetypes of witch, artist, and mother in a dreamlike, theatrical set.
