Dries van Noten Los Angeles and Half Gallery present an exhibition featuring nine works of Rene Ricard. The first posthumous show of Rene Ricard since his passing six years ago. Nightcrawlers, the show’s namesake and highlight work, was made in 1989 and has not been seen publicly since its debut in 1990.
Doomed escapism, tragic romance, wit in the face of absurdity: we witness Rene firing on all cylinders here. The show includes paintings with text over thrift store finds (But you love me…you said so and Enlightenment), while others are the artist’s from whole cloth (Please hold me the forgotten way).
On view now until February 12 2022 at The Little House
