Matthew Brannon’s first solo exhibition with Casey Kaplan explores the world of a sexually frustrated private detective. For Gentleman’s Relish, Brannon collaborates with designer Carlo Brandelli to transform the gallery into a film noir stage set complete with multiple acts and implied suspense. The hand-crafted props and at times garish color scheme enhance the mystery of Brannon’s exhibition and narrative without feeling too forced. On view until 27th October at Casey Kaplan, 525 West 21st Street, New York. Text and photo Juliana Balestin
