Mark Dion’s Drawings, Prints, Multiples and Sculptures is a remarkable survey of the artist’s pseudo-scientific artistic practice with works on paper and new vitrines taking over both floors of Tanya Bonakdar’s gallery. Dion recreates systems of order and classification to examine the way perceptions of the natural world and history move from idea to fact. The artist blurs the historical with the artificial creating a space for viewers that functions as an counterfeit natural history museum. On view through April 13th 2013 at Tanya Bonakdar, 521 West 21st Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
