Artist Marisa Merz, the leading female figure in the Arte Povera movement, presents a survey of works at Chelsea’s Gladstone Gallery. Merz combines organic materials with delicate portraits to reveal her perspective on everyday life and the role of the feminine. Merz’s work resists the idea of institutional high end art. Instead, the artist attempts to raise the status of lowbrow, overlooked themes and objects. On view through May 18th 2013 at Gladstone Gallery, 515 West 24th Street, New York.
