Anne Pontegnie curates a twenty year survey of Belgian artist Jan Vercruysse at Gladstone Gallery’s 24th Street space. Vercruysse concerns himself pattern, memory and the symbolism of voids and placement. This sophisticated and theatrical exhibition showcases the artist’s work through a clever use of the floor and wallspace as each room develops the artist’s themes and materials using recognizable shapes and objects in abstracted contexts. On view through August 3rd, 2012 at Gladstone Gallery, 515 West 24th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
