For their current exhibition at London’s White Cube, Jake and Dinos
Chapman reevaluated their practice by working in separate studios. The work created for the show is the result of isolation instead of a creative dialogue, as neither viewed the other’s work until the installation last week. While partners like Gilbert & George feed off the other’s ideas, the show aims to upend the standards of collaborations in the art world – the Chapman Brothers feel their interaction stifles the art each wants to produce. White Cube does not explain who produced each work. The viewer is left to make their own assumptions as they tour the gallery filled with faceless Nazi mannequins and children with animal noses.
