We are pleased to release the fourth chapter of #HouseofMolteni, a project made in collaboration with the leading Italian designer furniture company Molteni&C. This time featuring the French and New York based Founder and President of The Webster, Laure Hériard Dubreuil:
MOLTENI — What does your house represent to you?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — My house is my shelter, where my family lives and where I feel comfortable and I rejuvenate.
MOLTENI — Who chose the furniture?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — A bit my husband and myself. We kept some furntirue we had before meeting and we also bought something new. We are quite lucky to have similar tastes. But I have to say that the furniture is more me, while the art is more my husband.
MOLTENI — Any works of art at home?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — My husband is a contemporary artist, so I’m blessed to have all this creativity around and all of those amazing pieces from our friends and the ones we collected over the years. I have a photo from Ryan McGinley that I had in my apartment in Paris and it’s the only thing I brought when I moved to Miami, it’s the art piece that has been following me for the longest time.
MOLTENI — Where do you get your best ideas?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — I’m always thinking and searching for inspiration between travelling for the fashion weeks, going to art shows and museum to discover new artists.
MOLTENI — Open Space or separate rooms?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — I have several floors in my house but all of them and especially the main one is open, except for the sleeping area.
MOLTENI — Is your house a shelter or a place for sharing?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — It’s both actually. I think in NY it’s important to have a place where you feel comfortable and safe. We are lucky to have a little garden, to be next to the church and hear the bell, is very peaceful and quiet. But I also like to have my house full of people, having party and fun.
MOLTENI — Design and fashion, similarities and differences
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — I think there is a lot in common and a lot of dialogue between design and fashion. Fashion people have always been very sensitive to design and vice versa and the same with art. I think it’s about aesthetic and loving details and creativity.
MOLTENI — Bath tub or shower?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — Shower.
MOLTENI — Home cooking or restaurant?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — I like both. I like having dinner at home with my son and my husband and being the three of us but it’s also good to have some friends coming over. I celebrated my birthday with a big party, it was very fun. But it’s also nice to go to restaurants, having date nights between me and my husband. My son is very excited when we take him at the restaurant for lunch on the weekend.
MOLTENI — Where would you like to live?
Laure Heriard Dubreuil — Where my family is. I’ve grown up in Cognac -in the south west of France-, I moved to Paris when I was a teenager, I then lived in NY and in Miami and I’m now back to NY. My husband is from California and I know he would like to go back to California at some point. It’s a place that I would like to discover more as I haven’t spent much time there yet. However, there are a lot of places where I would like to live as long as I’m with my family. This is the most important thing in addition to the weather, I love sunny places.
