In the 1990s, the American artist Tom Sachs fell hopelessly in love with Switzerland. Now, three decades later, this love has developed into what Sachs himself calls helvetiaphilia. Presented as an homage to the Alpine nation, Sachs’ new paintings and sculptures not only accentuate Switzerland’s refined natural beauty and global image, but also shed light on the haunted past of her neutrality during the Second World War, and the responsibilities that come with it.
On view now until May 14th at Vito Schnabel, Via Maistra 37, St. Moritz
