American artist Gary Simmons presents a much deserved 20 year survey of his work at Metro Pictures in New York. Simmons’ practice examines race relations with a critical eye towards recent and contemporary history and the iconography of American culture. Simmons’ diverse presentation of work feels like a cohesive unit with his classic erasure technique reappearing in each gallery. On view through January 19th 2013 at Metro Pictures, 519 West 24th Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
