Multimedia artist Doug Aitken and MOCA Director Philippe Vergne will be in conversation tomorrow to explore ideas and new models for working both within and outside of the museum structure. The talk coicides with the release of Aitken’s iconoclastic monograph Doug Aitken: 100 Years published by Rizzoli which is out now. In the book Aitken invites a select few to assemble “visual essays” that form the four major sections of the book – each tackling a different thematic facet of Aitken’s practice. Zürich Kunsthaus curator Bice Curiger writes on landscape, Hirshhorn Museum chief curator Kerry Brougher tackles time, Cincinnati Art Museum director Aaron Betsky addresses form, and the Kitchen director Tim Griffin explores the individual. The conversation will be followed by a reception and book signing at Art Catalogues at LACMA, Ahmanson Building, Los Angeles. Photo Annabel Fernandes
