Curated by Camille Morineau, Lucia Pesapane and Vicente Todolí with Fiammetta Griccioli, the show offers an immersive exploration of one of the 20th century’s most innovative and subversive artists, spanning four decades of his radical kinetic sculptures and monumental machines. Filling the vast 5,000 square meter Navate space, the exhibit is a dynamic blend of sound and movement, showcasing Tinguely’s unique approach to machines as grotesque, performative creations. Evoking industrial assembly lines through working with found mechanical components and then liberating them from the “tyranny of utility”. The retrospective underscores Tinguely’s enduring relevance, probing themes of transience, consumerism, and the poetic power of the mechanical.
