Ai Weiwei’s public artwork Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads on display at the Somerset House in London. Artist Ai Weiwei, who has not been seen since he was detained by Chinese authorities in Beijing last month, should have been in London this week. Coming off the astounding success of Sunflower Seeds at the Tate Modern, this week saw the opening of two major displays of his work, the Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads, in the courtyard of London’s Somerset House, and a show of key works from the last 6 years at the Lisson Gallery. We are reminded yet again why Ai Weiwei remains a forceful and acclaimed figure in the art world. Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads by Ai Weiwei is on view until 26 June at Somerset House, The Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, The Strand, London. Photo Sabine Heller
