Purple is pleased to present “Natures Mortes,” Anne Imhof’s invitation to take over the entirety of The Palais de Tokyo in a continuation of its “Cartes Blanches” series. This retrospective showcases the breadth of her practice, fusing her own work with those of nearly 30 guest artists in a polyphonic exhibition that encompasses painting, installation, music, and performance art. With the walls stripped bare to form an open architectural space, we are invited into a sonic and inhabited maze of “natures mortes” (still lives) that place the museum within a conceptual tradition of historical and contemporary artists.
Artists include: Anne Imhof, Alvin Baltrop, Mohamed Bourouissa, Eugène Delacroix, Trisha Donnelly, Eliza Douglas, Cyprien Gaillard, Théodore Géricault, David Hammons, Eva Hesse, Mike Kelley, Jutta Koether, Klara Lidén, Joan Mitchell, Oscar Murillo, Eadweard Muybridge, Cady Noland, Precious Okoyomon, Francis Picabia, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Sigmar Polke, Paul B. Preciado, Bunny Rogers, Sturtevant, Yung Tatu, Paul Thek, Wolfgang Tillmans, Rosemarie Trockel, Cy Twombly, and Adrián Villar Rojas.
On view now through October 24, 2021 at The Palais de Tokyo, Paris 16
