Now on view at Sprüth Magers in London until March 29th is ephemera from the universe of artist Alexandre Singh’s epic three hour play The Humans. Along with objects from the play, illustrations, costumes and photos, the gallery is showing a full-length film of a performance of The Humans twice a day starting at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm. The play is a labour of love confounding years of study by Singh on writing, drawing and sculpting to inform its creation. The story begins amid an allegorical landscape with a mountain centre stage separating the realms of Charles Ray, the pontifical Apollonian sculptor, and N, the silent, agile Dionysiac Rabbit Queen. The Humans is a tale about creation itself, the struggle of the artist to come to grips with his predecessors and master his own material. The Humans runs until March 29th at Sprüth Magers, London.
