This epic exhibition by the beloved Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei, is 100 million life-sized hand-made porcelain sunflower seeds, symbols of the Cultural Revolution. The whole city of Jingdezhen worked on the project for 6 years, tenderly painting each seed one after another. The Sunflower Seeds show is on view until February 4th, 2012 at The Mary Boone Gallery, 541 West 24th Street, New York. Photo Tamara Weber and text Alexandra Gordienko
