A painting from Los Angeles based artist Henry Taylor from the Ticket to Reality show. Taylor, born 1958, began his carreer in art studying at the California Institute of the Arts while working the swing shift as a psychiatric technician at Camarillo State Hospital. His work portrays subjects from his own personal world – friends, family members, contemporaries – alongside wider know characters such as sports heros and historical figures to produce loose figurative portraits calling in broader contextual themes, often dealing with the concept of community. Ticket to Reality is on view until February 15th at the Marlborough Chelsea, 545 W 25th St, New York. Photo Bill Powers
