David Lynch announced that his Foundation would donate one million dollars to teach transcendental meditation to war veterans, a move which is already dramatically decreasing levels of post-traumatic stress for personnel on military base camps and their families at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Los Angeles. My favorite place in Los Angeles right now is Caulfield's in Beverly Hills. It's named after J.D Salinger's hero from the Catcher in the Rye and features a mural of the Hollywood Ten: a group of actors, screenwriters, producers and directors that were blacklisted in Hollywood during the 1950s. Members included Arthur Miller, Dalton Trumbo, Dorothy Parker, Lillian Hellman, John Howard Lawson, Charlie Chaplin, Jules Dassin and Ring Lardner Jnr, among others, most of whom served prison time after refusing to testify in court against allegations of their work featuring Communist propaganda. Caulfield's, 9360 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. Photo Linlee Allen
