My austere upbringing in Austria, with only the essentials, with the urge for care and beauty in coexistence with the surroundings, with the occasional opulence in moments of celebration, has made my experience with Japanese culture familiar and reassuring. It has reinforced my always instinctive belief that the interesting side of anything is a perfectly imperfect state.
