Watch an extract from “Strange Magic” by Sarah Morris

Multi-disciplinary artist Sarah Morris releases “Strange Magic” as part of her monographic exhibition at Kunsthalle Wien titled “Falls Never Breaks”. Known for her colorful, geometric abstract paintings and explaining social and political themes with architectural and urban images, Morris‘ film is a 45-minute survey of the LVMH empire, with Paris in the background and an eerie soundtrack scored by fellow artist Liam Gillick. The artist explores modern definitions of ‘luxury’, as champagne, perfume, expensive fashion, and Louis Vuitton Foundation designed by Frank Ghery blend in a series of impeccable, seductive montage, cultivating the clichéd notion of what it means to be ‘truly French’. Morris approaches luxury as another mean of building a cultural capital that epitomizes human desires.

“Sarah Morris: Falls Never Breaks” opens on December 8th, 2016 and will run through January 8th, 2017 at Kunsthalle Wien, Museumsplatz 1, Vienna.
