Fabulous James

Fabulous James by Ivan Olita

“At first glance, James represents the archetypal Beverly Hills billionaire… Advanced in age, he lives in a house that could be owned by a James Bond villain who is constantly surrounded by beautiful ladies… but the truth is that when I met him, and got to know him better, he proved himself as a very delicate, loving and compassionate person. He invested all he had in time, resources and efforts in his house and it seems to me he always strived to be himself at the cost of being somehow alone which I believe it’s a price you’d have to pay to cherish your individuality,” explains director Ivan Olita. “It’s almost as if he’s like an eternal prince to me, in search of more rocambolesque adventures and a princess that could make him, finally, a king. Also, he is one of the first people that brought a sense of fashion to the LA scene.” Goldstein owns one of Los Angeles’ most renowned properties, the Sheats-Goldstein Residence, a statement building above Beverly Hills that has featured in films such as The Big Lebowski. Built by John Lautner between 1961 and 1963, the Milwaukee native bought it in 1972 and has spent the intervening decades perfecting it. In February 2016 Goldstein announced that he will donate the  Lautner’s masterpiece to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
