Purple TV presents an exclusive clip from the documentary 12 O’Clock Boys (2013) from Western Promises (Chloe Wilk-Martin) and Alex Sossah and directed by British-born filmmaker Lotfy Nathan. Starring Coco, Pug and Steven, the documentary highlights the young bikers on the rough streets of Baltimore and the social divisions that lay there. It tells the story of Pug, a wisecracking 13 year old living on a dangerous Westside block, who has one goal in mind: to join The Twelve O’Clock Boys; the notorious urban dirt-bike gang of Baltimore. Converging from all parts of the inner city, they invade the streets and clash with police, who are forbidden to chase the bikes for fear of endangering the public. When Pug’s older brother dies suddenly, he looks to the pack for mentorship, spurred by their dangerous lifestyle. “As you’ll see in this Op-Doc video, the 12 O’Clock Boys, as reckless as they may be, provide a sense of purpose for many of Baltimore’s marginalized youth,” says Nathan. The film premiered at SXSW 2013 and is set to be released in theaters in January.
