Leo Gabin TV Takeover

Purple TV is pleased to announce the first video from the LEO GABIN TV Takeover – LONNIE HOLLEY “All Rendered Truth.” True to their work, which touches on the diverse relationships between the visual, music and the meditative repetition of the ordinary and urban, the first video from the takeover is about LONNIE HOLLEY, the self-taught African American visual artist, and now musician, from Birmingham, Alabama.

This trio are currently showing their paintings and video works at the White Cube, London. The gallery explains that their work investigates “the materials and rituals of contemporary culture by pulling together endless amounts of online amateur video footage to create a new kind of narrative. LEO GABIN are interested in how American pop culture is filtered and interpreted through online viewing; how young people use the media to capture their surroundings and express themselves.” This one week takeover from the Belgian trio, made up of LIEVEN DECONINCK, GAETAN BEGEREM and ROBIN DE VOOGHT, will reveal the small connections of their inspirations to their work. What better collective of artists to takeover Purple TV. “Their art underscores the zeitgeist — the spirit of an age dominated by speed and intensity, by images and evanescence, by eroticism and escapism, and perhaps by a present tenuously geared toward a future,” said JEFF RIAN in Purple Fashion Issue 18. “Their works imply the statement, Look at us!” Continue reading more about the Belgium art trio LEO GABIN here.
