BEAK> TV Takeover
Purple TV presents a TV Takeover from Geoff Barrow’s (Portishead’s multi-instrumentalist and producer) motorik band BEAK>. In the run up to their concert at Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris, with Boredoms and Ata Kak on Saturday May 28th for Villette Sonique 2016, BEAK> will be selecting their favorite videos exclusively for Purple. BEAK> are synonymous with creating sounds that encompass that of krautrock and post-punk. Their entire self-titled debut was written over a span of twelve days in Bristol, England, and recorded live in one room with no overdubs or repair, only using edits to create arrangements. Their sophomore album, Beak II, was released on Barrow’s Invada Records label, in 2012. The group continued with the same production method as on the previous album and recorded all the songs in one day. The result was another Krautrock-influenced album full of hypnotic motorik rhythms.
The band are now currently on a European tour and have recently made the soundtrack for Tom Greens new film Couple In A Hole, a poignant drama of grief shot in the French wilderness.
