Kay Goldberg’s Miami Art Basel Diary Part IV

Dear Mom, Last day of camp was sad. We left early and didn’t get to go to the closing bonfire. The drive home was really long. At one point at 5:30 in the morning I considered propping my eyelids open with toothpics. We got stuck in a blizzard and it took us 27 hours to get home. I think I would like to go to camp again next year, maybe try and see some more actual art, which is exactly what I said last year. Art Basel is great but Miami is very distracting and throwing a bunch of summer crazed pale New York based kids who are itching for a vacation turns it into more of a satellite party than an actual art experience. You need focus and discipline in order to really get the most out of everything it has to offer, both of which are hard things to have when its 77 degrees and sunny all day, and there are a thousand parties every night. But finally we are home, and our bare legs and bikinis can go back into hibernation until July. Till next time. Photo and text Kay Goldberg
