The Clock by Christian Marclay at the Paula Cooper Gallery

The Clock by Christian Marclay has gallery visitors lined up on 21st
Street last screenings at the Paula Cooper Gallery. The ambitious single screen film has a
running time of 24 hours. The Clock pulls from thousands of film
moments and passages which reference time either directly or
indirectly. Images jump from color to black and white and from across
cinematic periods. The narrative of Marclay’s work is synchronized to
the location of the screening which bring the viewers into the
experience- a classic element of Marclay’s practice. The film builds
upon Marclay’s recent Whitney exhibition and continues the artist’s
reinterpretation of the visual world. The Clock by Christian Marclay will run its last screenings this weekend at the Paula Cooper Gallery, 534 W. 21st Street, New York. Text and photo Juliana Balestin
