Curator Manon Slome and No Longer Empty present a compelling and timely group exhibition How Much Do I Owe You? The multilevel show inside the former Bank of Manhattan building in Queens addresses global and local concerns of value, currency and desire. The crisis of physical and spiritual debt is relayed through viewer participation, site specific installation and the command of the exhibition's environment. Orit Ben-Shitrit's standout single channel film in the building's basement vault conveys these themes through the power of bodies, motion and light. Elsewhere, the collaborative effort Ghost of a Dream works with discarded lottery tickets repurposed into a decorative wall mural that deceives the eye until closer inspection. On view through March 13th 2013 at No Longer Empty, 29 - 27 41st Avenue, Long Island City, Queens. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
