Group Exhibition “Requiem for the Sun: The Art of Mono-Ha” at Gladstone Gallery, New York

Gladstone Gallery’s 21st Street summer exhibition brings together a group of Japan’ post-war artists including Jiro Takamatsu, Lee Ufan and Katsuro Yoshido. These artists belong to a movement, known as Mono-Ha, which emerged in the 1960s and explores the intersection of the natural and man-made. Imposing yet delicate sculptures based on thoughtful arrangements of material, line, and weight and balance elevate materials to new possibilities while maintaining their existing state. On view through August 3rd 2012 at Gladstone Gallery, 530 West 21st Street, New York. Photo and text Juliana Balestin
